After a period of relative quietness, we have had a bit of sudden activity on the SmartGolfer Network.
Firstly, please welcome to the Network, two new clubs!!
Heacham Manor Golf Club is on the outskirts of Hunstanton, Norfolk, and Edd Howes and his team will be delighted to welcome SmartGolfers to the club! The arrival of Heacham gives the Network a new area of coverage, and apart from having a bloody great bit of sea in the way, is a new “near” (not that near!) neighbour to Pete Chamberlain at South Kyme!!
Woolston Manor Golf Club is a new addition inside the M25, in the Chigwell, Essex area. This area has very good SmartGolfer Coverage, with Epping and Enfield the closest, but again it adds an accessible and quality venue to the Network in that region. Tony Blackburn and his team – I’m reasonably sure that’s not the Radio DJ!! – will also be delighted to welcome you to the Club.
Secondly, we have lost one club, and the arrangement with Top Golf has come to an end.
The Springs, the golf club and the hotel, were taken over by new management a while ago, and the new owners have come to the conclusion that their pathway no longer is compatible with the way the Network runs. As a result, they have withdrawn from the network with immediate effect. I don’t of course, have any control over how well they communicate that fact to their own members, so all clubs will need to make their own staff aware that The Springs are no longer a Network Club.
The TopGolf deal has come to an end and despite some extensive discussions, they decided not to do anything other than the deals that your members can get directly off the TopGolf website for off peak play etc. If there was nothing special being set up for our club members, then I couldn’t see the point of advertising the TopGolf venues for them. At the end of the day, the TopGolf venues are massive crowdpullers, and I can understand how they need to standardise their offers and not make piecemeal arrangements for a very small part of their clientele.
