The latest challengers were Lady Captain Bella & Immediate Past Lady Captain Lucy.
Lady Captain Bella was heard in the Clubhouse over the weekend to be boasting that the boys would get a good ‘thrashing’.
Pride comes before a fall…….but not always!
5 down after 9, Captain & Vice were indeed being ‘thrashed’ following some very consistent golf from Lucy (Bella’s time would come).
A short interlude to chat with spectators at the 10th made little impact and the ladies were still 5 up after 12 and 6 up after 11!
The inspirational speech from spectator Bob Champion (Grand National winning jockey for those not of a certain age) made some difference as Captain & Vice won the next 3 holes……back to 3 down with 4 to play.
Lady Captain Bella was trying to claim a Dormy 4 ….…..but we kindly explained the rules of golf to her.
Onto 15, and Lady Captain Bella chipped her 3rd shot to 2 inches (with a shot) leaving the Captain having to hole a 25 foot chip to save the match.
Needless to say….Captain missed (just) and Bella was dancing around the green…..with green staff watching!
All over at 5&3 (Mr Vice is saving himself for challenge No 8 on Thursday and No9 on Friday)
Well done ladies…….a new winning score has been set.
Was it a thrashing? It certainly felt like it!?
