This update covers three main aspects :
The county bowls Federation finals on Sunday July 18th The club AGM date Covid restrictions from July 19th
BOWLS COUNTY FINALS
The county bowls semi-finals held at Ramsey last Saturday went extremely well and I wanted to express my gratitude to all those members who helped on the day to make it such a success.
This coming Sunday (July 18th), our bowls club has the honour of hosting the County Bowls Finals. This event will be prestigious for the club and has come about due to Patsy and I being the respective ladies’ and gentlemen’s County Presidents this year and, naturally, we are keen to make the day a resounding success.
I have no doubt the all members will understand that staging events like these will mean that the club is far busier then usual and will, inevitably, put pressure on parking and food and beverage service so please be patient and use the mobile number for food and drinks orders (07970 425315).
If any members could spare some time, particularly on Sunday, to help with the bar and restaurant service it would be greatly appreciated.
We are expecting a large number of spectators who will be sitting on all sides of the bowls green so it is likely that there will be some congestion. With this in mind and, as with last Saturday, it would be appreciated if golf players could walk to and from the course using the car park rather then walking either side of the bowls green to reduce possible added distraction to bowlers.
We are looking to hold the club AGMs for 2019 and 2020 on September 27th and the formal confirmation will be issued shortly.
COVID RESTRICTIONS FROM JULY 19TH
Following the announcement by the Prime Minister on a further lifting of restrictions as from July 19th the management board met on Tuesday to decide what measures will apply for the club.
To better ensure the safety of our on-site teams and members we have decided that the following measures will operate as of Monday July 19th :
: Golf Course and Bowls Green – all measures will return to those that applied pre covid and further details, if necessary, will be issued by the respective sections.
: Indoor bar and restaurant service – for the time being we will continue to maintain table service only, indoors, and to ask everyone entering the building to wear face coverings whilst moving about inside the building. This will mean that ordering food and/or drinks will only be available whilst seated at a table but customers will be free to carry their drinks or food outside should they wish to.
: Outdoor bar and restaurant service – we will continue to offer the option of table service if required with ordering by telephone (07970 425315) or at the table or customers are welcome to come into the club house for their orders to be taken, whilst seated (see above), and to then carry their drinks or food outside.
I am sure that some will welcome the fact that we have taken the decision to maintain some level of restrictions to reduce the risk of infection and some will consider our approach to be over cautious and unnecessary but, from a club perspective, we have a duty of care to ensure that we maintain a safe environment for our team and customers alike and we believe that these measures meet this responsibility. The measures in place will continue to be reviewed in the light of government advice and infections.
Regards to all and stay safe
