Another very successful weekend for the club with the bowls club running its end of season, covid safe, finals and the golf section running its Texas Scramble event which had an excellent entry of over 100.
With the introduction of the much publicised “rule of 6” we have now received clarification, via Golf England, from the government in relation to changes in how we need to operate to continue to meet Covid-19 guidelines and the law from, today, Monday 14th September. The Play Safe Stay Safe Framework For Playing Golf has similarly been updated to reflect the changes.
To summarise the position for golf please see the following summary. But please note that I am awaiting an update from the bowls ruling bodies on any changes for bowls :
On the course:Golf can continue to be played in accordance with existing ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ guidance. Groupings must not consist of more than six people.
Off the course: Clubhouses can continue to cater for multiple groups each containing a maximum of six people from different households. However, golfers in one group must avoid merging with golfers from another group to create a single gathering in excess of six people.
Society and team event organisers should take special care to ensure different groups of six from within their party do not merge to form larger groups before, during or after a round. Travel to and from golf venues should continue to be in accordance with government regulations.
We are awaiting further clarification on how the new rulings affect committee meetings and group coaching and will provide an update when available.
Face coverings must be worn by members of the public in all indoor areas of the club/facility. Coverings may be removed in bar and restaurant areas for the purpose of eating and drinking.
It is important that we follow these guidelines to ensure that all members, visitors and our staffing remain as safe as possible and, as a club, can demonstrate to any regulatory visits that we are ensuring that we continue to meet all requirements.
