The consequences of the corona virus outbreak are continuing to develop on a day by day basis and I have no doubt that this will continue to develop over the coming days.
As of Saturday March 21st the club bar and restaurant areas were closed to members and from today until Friday the whole club house will remain locked. Different arrangements may be in place for the weekend but this will depend on developments during this coming week and updates will be issued out to members as necessary.
The pro shop may be open from time to time and Stuart will be issuing details but, again, this situation will be subject to change.
Judith will only be at the club occasionally during the week but I am in constant contact with her and Stuart. Judith will continue to be contactable by email on email@example.com.
I am planning to go down to the club every day or two to make sure that everything is secure and attend to any issues – we have an amount of beer that only has a limited life so if any members want a “take away” for consumption at home please come down to the bowls side of the club house between 4 and 5pm today or tomorrow with a suitable container and I will fill it up.
If there are any issues of concern please feel free to ring me on 01487 823542
I am sure that all members will want the club to survive this situation and we are taking steps to ensure that we claim all monies we can from central government but the reality is that the revenues lost from society usage, bar and kitchen sales will far exceed the support available from government.
In the short term members can help by ensuring that they pay their membership fees as they fall due for renewal in March, April, May etc etc and not alter their fairway credit arrangements – I fully appreciate that, in the short term, there may be limited opportunity to play golf or bowls or to use the other club facilities but it is essential that the club maintains as much of its revenue stream as possible to better ensure that we are able to continue to function for when things return to normal. My expectation at the moment is that we have the finances to get through to October so if matters return to normal in, say, three months we would be okay but if a return to normality extended out to four or five months then we would be under additional pressures and my goal is to minimise as much of this type of threat to the club as possible.
TOGETHER WE WILL PREVAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
