Captain’s Update

Good afternoon Members,
The last weekend in August has proved to be a mixed bag with the weather, but our endless Summer had to end at some point
Saturday welcomed the Ladies v Gents betterball matchplay clash and it turned out to be an absolute soaking and a laugh nonetheless!
The Gents managed to clinch victory with a 6-4 win and the attached picture shows me graciously receiving the trophy from Lady Captain Linda. A heartfelt thank you to the Ladies that sold cakes and pastries from the 10th hut; all on behalf of the Captain's Charity. £115 was raised.
Sunday had better weather for the Quinton Cup. Singles stableford format still proved to be testing, as the scoring was lower than of late. Only one player managed to beat their handicap, the worthy winner being Howard King with 38 points. See Howard receiving the trophy and Pro Shop voucher.
The last picture illustrates the scoreboard with Club Member - Sam Arthur continuing his meteoric rise Stateside with another win!
This week the Greenkeepers and voulunteers are draining greens 10 and 11 as part of the ongoing improvement to the Course. It is essential work and the earlier improved greens have proved the efficacy even though there will be some golf disruption. Thanks to all the volunteers!
Next week the RGC team of athletes head over to Royal Guernsey Golf Club as part of the 54 year reciprocal. We convincingly beat their team here in May and the mouthwatering clash awaits us Thursday and Friday. Wish us luck!
The last big comp is the JH Brown on Sunday 4th October. The Presentation Evening follows after this one, so please put this in your diary.
Thats it for now!
Kind regards,
Captain Rich
