Change to BRS booking time
Dear Members,
We are writing to let you know of an upcoming change to our tee time booking process. Starting from Wednesday 25th Feb booking for Thursday 5th Mar Ramsey Golf Club will be trialling a new release time for our BRS booking system in an attempt to improve system performance.
Why are we making this change?
As many of you have experienced, booking a slot is difficult at busy times. The BRS system often suffers from "hanging" or the "spinning wheel" during peak periods, particularly at the current 9:00 PM slot. This adds insult to injury so that when the slots appear for you to book a few seconds later they are already taken.
System Traffic is a key factor. BRS provides booking services for approximately 1,500 clubs in the UK. When many clubs choose 9:00 PM as their release time, the server capacity can be temporarily overwhelmed by thousands of golfers hitting the system at once.
We can help with the system traffic issue but not the Local Competition where the "fastest finger" competition will always be present.
In short we are aiming to make the system available to book at the time it says, but there will always be the competition within our membership for tee times for busy slots.
The Solution: Moving to a "Non-Standard" Time
Based on advice from BRS Support, moving our release time away from the top of the hour to a "quarter-past" or "quarter-to" slot can improve performance. At these times, fewer clubs are releasing their tee slots, meaning our members are not competing for server space with the rest of the UK.
The Trial Details
The Board and the Golf Committee have endorsed a two month trial period. Following we have decided to move the booking release to:
New Release Time: 8:45pm
Effective From: Wednesday 25th Feb booking for Thursday 5th Mar
Duration: Two Months
What you need to do
Update your Alarms: We know many of you set phone prompts to book; please ensure these are updated to the new time.
Monitor Performance: We want to know if this change makes the app feel more responsive and reduces the frequency of the "spinning wheel".
Our goal is to ensure that the only competition you face is with your fellow members, not with the BRS servers themselves. We will review the results of this trial after 2 months and decide on a permanent slot based on the system's performance and your feedback.
