Club Captain’s address

Dear Membership,
The competition season has begun and this is where my golf, work and home life all blend into one. The clock is ticking faster, the greens are running quicker and the tees will change from blue to yellow and then white. Let’s hope things aren’t like my childhood when I had lots of coloured plasticine and mixed it together to make a big pile of brown!
I’ve addded some pics of the journey; the Drive-In, half way hut chefs, the first halved Captain Vice Challenge and a cheeky second place in the Greg Moore Memorial.
Congratulations to Adam Cornthwaite for winning and thanks must go to Janet and David Moore who presented the winners with their vouchers. 11 years on from Greg’s passing and it’s still difficult for them, but they welcome this event and thank the Members for their support.
The next event is the Steve Mucklin Memorial. This event is also well supported and half of the proceeds go to the family’s choice of charity, the British Heart Foundation. Well over £1000 has been raised from this over the years and the Members generosity is much appreciated.
The Scratch Fundraiser is in the 21st March, even if you are not playing please don’t forget to purchase your draw numbers from the Bar to have your chance to win a four ball voucher for Hollinwell and Woodhall Spa.
Ladies Captain Linda has been focusing her efforts on making the approach to the first tee much more presentable and colourful. Flowers, new beech hedge and a new herbaceous island are a work in progress. Thanks to Linda, Derek, Charlie and others for their time. Linda is also looking to attract new Lady Members. Taster sessions in the golf Swing Studio and in the Practise Area will be arranged in the warmer weather. So if any Members have partners or friends that might like to try golf, please come forward to myself or Linda so we can arrange a series of events.
That’s it for now, keep enjoying the course and see you out there.
KR,
Captain Rich
