Dear Members,
We are writing to you all to clarify some of the recent messages from Club Systems / HowDidiDo
regarding some software changes which are currently scheduled for 12th January, where they will be
launching a brand new HowDidiDo platform.
The new HowDidiDo will combine all the great features within the ClubV1 Members Hub and the
current HowDidiDo into one brand new platform.
What this means for members is that, once launched, if you wish to use the brand-new app then you
will need to re-register for it accordingly, however the registration process has been significantly
simplified. All you will need to do is input your email address that is linked to your ClubV1 record
(xxx@gmail.com) and the system will send you a one-time passcode to your email address. You will
input this into HowDidiDo and it will then link you to our club as well as any other clubs that you may
be a member of that use ClubV1. You will only need to do this once, but you may occasionally be sent
another one-time passcode.
HowDidiDo can be accessed via www.howdidido.com or via a downloadable app from your app store.
**Please Note **: Access via the website will remain completely free of charge (saved webpage/bookmark
on your PC or mobile), however Club Systems have confirmed that the New app will now have a
charge associated.
Club Systems have stated that members will either need to pay £2.99 per year for the standard
HowDidiDo app, which will contain adverts similar to the current version, or pay £9.99 per year for the
HowDidiDo app with no 3rd party adverts at all.
The Board will continue to monitor this development and any resulting impact but to assist our
member experience, revenue has been allocated to purchase 2 x New PSi terminals one of which will
be mounted in each of the changing rooms, thus extending the club-based access to the Club V1
system in order to enable members to access all necessary system functions.
It is our understanding although not promoted nor developed that the current members Hub will
remain during the early phases of this migration.
Please find below a few FAQs and responses that we have been given to us by Club Systems which
hopefully will provide you with further information.
Why have you developed a new HowDidiDo and combined it with the Members Hub?
For many years now, clubs have been feeding back to us that having 2 apps was confusing and
inconvenient. We have also been very aware that both HowDidiDo and the Members Hub were
getting tired, dated and experiencing more performance issues. A big issue was that the building
blocks that both of our apps were built on were restrictive for further development. We want to
provide our clubs and their members with the best possible interface to allow you to interact with
your club. The ideas of what we would like to develop over the coming months and years are really
exciting! Finally, a number of clubs have been complaining about the advertising in HowDidiDo for
years. HowDidiDo is funded, primarily, through advertising. The new platform also allows us to tailor
advertisements to the needs of clubs/users.
All of these factors, amongst others, have led us to re-building the brand new HowDidiDo from the
ground up. This is not just a “lick of paint”, this is a whole new app and we are really proud of what
has been developed and we hope you share our enthusiasm when you get the new platform in your
hands.
Will I need to download a new app?
Yes, the new app is actually available to download now, but you won’t be able to link to your club until
the official launch date.
When is the official launch date?
The launch date is currently set as 12 th January, but this is subject to feedback from the ongoing BETA
testing. As thing stand today, everything is currently looking good.
You have mentioned there is a charge involved, what is the cost?
Members will have the option to pay £2.99 per year for the standard app. This will includes 3 rd party
adverts.
Alternatively, members can pay £9.99 per year for the ad-free version of the app.
The final option is that the club can pre-purchase the app for all of the members. This will give the
members the ad-free version of the app for free.
How does that fee get collected?
The fee will be collected in-app. This will be a 12 month subscription through your app store and can
be cancelled prior to renewal.
I am a member of multiple clubs, will I have to pay for each of them?
If you, as a member, pay for the app, you will only pay once and this will cover you for all of your
clubs.
If one of your clubs pre-purchase the app, this will only cover you for that club, so you would have to
pay for any club that you are a member of that hasn’t pre-purchased the app.
I don’t want to pay, but I need to continue using HowDidiDo, what options do I have?
The HowDidiDo website will remain completely free of charge. If you have a smartphone, most
smartphones allow you to put a link on your phone directly into the website.
What features will I not have if I don’t use the app?
The only feature missing from the website is push notifications as these are sent via the app and
cannot be sent out any other way.
