The Club has the honour to recognise the personal contribution of one of our great Clubs, longest serving members this evening.
John Brookes (Brooksie) first joined this Golf Club in the early 70’s when he and his wife Barbara moved into the area.
He very quickly established and endeared himself to the Members, and soon accepted Captaincy of the our Golf Club in 1979.
John was a very proficient golfer and to this day, I have never played with a golfer who was so consistently straight with every shot.
His name on so many boards and trophies bears witness to this.

Greens Drainage
Following the major works on our greens in September, it is worth reflecting on the effect the new drainage has had on the 5 greens.
Over the past week or so, the course has endured a lot of heavy rainfall which historically, would have led to the closure of the 5 holes; 2, 6, 8, 9 & 12.
As you can see from the photos below, the 5 historically worst greens have remained dry and playable while other greens have suffered heavy casual water retention.
HGK Richard is delighted with the results of the drainage work, and plans similar works at the end of next season in 2024 to further improve another 5 greens.
Richard is to be congratulated for his vision and faith in the works, and also the Board for financially investing and supporting the project for the long term good of the Golf Club.
Not forgetting all those essential and willing volunteers who helped to make it happen.
18th Footbridge
You will no doubt have noticed the successful refurbishment of the 18th footbridge.
This is another investment made by the Board to ensure the continued use of the footbridge into the future.
Our thanks go to Paul & Mick Edgar whose company have made such a fantastic job of the refurbishment, and to Club Director James Else for arranging the essential works.
Thank you all for your patience during the upgrading works, and I’m sure you will agree that it is great to see the investment being made by the Board into the future of our golfing facilities.
