Seniors’ Section update - 8 May
On Tuesday 5th May the Seniors held their now annual Invitation Match. This year we saw a total of 48 players out on the course. The weather was fabulous and the course was outstanding, with many visitors saying it was the best course they have played this year. The day started with bacon rolls and coffee and all attendees had sandwiches and chips back in the clubhouse after they had played. Numerous prizes were given out including the top three pairs and nearest the pins. The day was won by Ex Captain Phil Ackers and his partner J. Irvine with an impressive 49 pts, second was Trevor Brown and partner P. Ryan with 45 pts and third was Roger Tacq and partner R. Pouncey. It was a great day with many of the visitors already vowing to return next year.
On Thursday 7th May the Seniors played their away match at St. Ives. The course was probably in the best condition that most of us had ever seen it. The sun shown and unusually for St. Ives the wind was light. St. Ives fielded a very strong team as the final result showed, with a 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 win in their favour.
