Captain’s Address

On Saturday 11th July we had Sandy and Karen Sancaster host the Jack Sancaster Memorial. 10 years after Past Captain Jack’s passing, the generous RGC members and Karen’s passionate raffle selling have raised over £4000 for MacMillan Cancer Support. This years event was no different and it raised £702. A worthy cause!

The Winners were Rob Howard and Sarah Brooke. 

On Tuesday 14th July, the Scratch Team won their last match  versus Cambridge Country Club, Bourn. The result was 2 wins to 1 and this means that Paul Hodgkin and his elite team are Division 2 Champions for 2026. Congratulations

This weekend 18/19th July we have the Club Championship. Saturday’s strokeplay round has players 18hdcp and below going out in handicap order, hoping to make the cut for Sunday’s second 18 holes. For the first time ever the Ladies have joined this format and 14 Ladies follow the Men out for the first 18 and then play the second round on Sunday. This is instead of them playing 36 holes in one day. 

RGC is evolving !

On Saturday August 8th I host my Captain’s Day. It will be an entertaining event and 7 day members should book in on HowDidiDo as pairs. Front nine is singles stableford and the back nine you will join forces with your pair playing gruesome Greensomes. Cream Tea and drinks on the 10th, musical vibes and chicken wings later on. Don’t miss it!
