Captain’s Address March 2026

The competition season is properly under-way with Club Comps, Men’s,Ladies and Mixed Matches all imminent. The white tees made a surprise premature appearance and will be staying out for all to use. The first Comp for Men to tee off from these is next weekends Bogey Cup on Saturday 4th April.
Congratulations to the Winners of the Scratch Fundraiser- Alan Quinn, Harry Courtney Buddle, TJ Harding and Rowan Dowlet receiving Pro Shop vouchers from myself and Scratch Captain Paul Hodgkin. Paul and Sarah Hodgkin’s efforts raised £1600 to help the Scratch Team on their quest for excellence and representing RGC.
TJ Harding won the Woodhall Spa voucher and IPC Derek Lines won the Hollinwell voucher.
This week I attended the SCAGCS annual dinner at Madingley Hall, with VC Ashley Butten and several other dapper Past Captains.
A fine evening meeting other Cambridgeshire Captains, wine and comedy entertainment. I look forward to playing is some of the SCAGCS golf fixtures through the spring and summer.
This Sunday will see the rescheduled Valentines Texas Scramble, so good luck to all those four balls!
Lady Captain Linda has also been busy organising a free taster session on Sunday 3rd May for any Ladies that wish to try their hand at swinging a club, perhaps with a view of taking the sport up and becoming Members. No equipment required, free practice for a couple of hours and there is always the Bar for refreshments. If any Member knows any Ladies/Girls that might like to participate, then please make contact.
