The Seniors are a very friendly and active group who welcome all male Club members over the age of 55 to join them. Roll Ups are held every Tuesday and Friday morning, and provide an excellent opportunity to meet new friends. The ball draw, which takes place at 09:30, ensures members mix up and get to know each other. A small group go out earlier.
The Seniors play in the Club mid-week medals
Four competitions are held annually:
- The Steward Trophy
- The Thomson Trophy
- The Seniors Championship
- Jim’s Jug
A fifth competition, The Whittome Bowl, is a knock out competition open to all male Club members over the age of 55.
The Club organises a Seniors Open competition every year.
We have a very good fixture list of matches against the Seniors of other clubs in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. These matches provide a wonderful opportunity to visit and play other courses for the cost of a lunch. All male Club members over the age of 55 are eligible to play in these matches. Whilst most matches finish with a jacket and tie lunch some clubs have changed to smart/casual and this change appears to be gathering momentum. However, old fashioned puddings are still the norm.
The following clubs are played on a home and away basis:
- BOURN GOLF CLUB
- BURGHLEY PARK GOLF CLUB
- ELTON FURZE GOLF CLUB
- ELY CITY GOLF CLUB
- THE GOG MAGOG GOLF CLUB
