Goddard Cup & Greensome League
Goddard Cup – Result
Ramsey Scratch Team played a very resilient and skillful St Neots Team in the final of the County Goddard Cup; played at Saffron Walden GC on Sunday.
The morning foursomes pairs played great golf, but the St Neots pairs just gave nothing away which resulted in a 3-1 lead to St Neots.
The afternoon singles matches were going to be tough, and they were. Ramsey were up against the County Div 1 and County Foursomes Champions whose lowest handicap was plus 4!
Despite the odds, the Ramsey team played with real fight and the match could have gone either way right to the end. A swing in a couple of the matches could have easily happened, but it was to be St Neots day, as they won 8-4.
The Ramsey Team received great support from Club Members and ‘Thank you’ to all those who turned out to support our Team yesterday.
Scratch Captain Paul Hodgkin and his team have performed to an extremely high level all season, and our Club is truly proud of all their achievements this year.

County Greensomes League – Knockout phase
Ramsey’s Greensome Team led by Captain Nick Kay played their quarter final knockout match against Gog Magog GC. Despite being drawn at home, Ramsey played at Gog Magog due to the recent greens work; giving away home advantage. Despite this, Ramsey secured a win on the 19th hole tie-breaker following an all square match, leaving the final pair to decide the tie.
Tyler Mason hit a career second shot into the par 4 green to put pressure on their opponents, who consequently bogied the hole leaving Tyler a par put to win the match and tie.
A great result away from home as Nick and his team now go forward to the semi-final.
