Captain’s Letter dated 30th November
Dear member.
I would like to start this email with a big thank you from Lady Captain Margaret and myself to everyone for making our drive in a day to remember .
We were honoured that so many attended making our day so special .
Well done to Lady Vice Captain Sharren Kjenstad and Jim Watts who guessed the distance of our drives.
Thank you Sharren for donating her winnings to the ladies project, and to Jim for donating his to the Captain’s charity.
Head green keeper Richard has let me know that the new Mats have now been put on the teeing area grass. They will have the rubber cross tee pegs put in like the ones in the practice nets. They will be salted when frosty. And they will be put on a level concrete base when he has access to a mini digger .

Thank you to everyone who has donated money so far through the Captain’s cabin.
The cabin will be open this Saturday and my helper will be IPC Phil Ackers .
All the best Captain Mark
Cheque Presentation to ‘It’s On The Ball’ Charity

On Friday 17th November, the Club proudly hosted the CEO and trustee of the Cancer Awareness Charity ‘It’s On The Ball’.
Vince Wolverson and his wife Anne delivered a very informative testicular cancer awareness talk to a packed audience.
Everyone learned something, and a very important message was delivered with humour and dignity in equal measure.
Following the talk, IPC Phil Ackers proudly presented a cheque to Vince for £4000 on behalf of the Captain’s Charity.
The evening was rounded off with a fun Xmas quiz, generous buffet and prize raffle.
IPC Phil thanked Vince & Anne for the talk & quiz, everyone present for their support, and all the Members who supported the charity throughout the year.

Ramsey Remembrance Sunday
Immediate Past Captain Philip Ackers and Captain Mark Langford paraded to Ramsey Memorial on Sunday 12th November. Captain Mark laid a wreath on behalf of Ramsey Golf and Bowls Club.

Captain’s Letter No 12 – October 2023
Immediate Past Captain’s Letter of Thanks & Newsletter- October 2023
Due to my unfortunate neck fracture 3 weeks ago, I was unable to publish my last Captain’s Letter in October.
With the kind blessing of our new Club Captain Mark Langford, I am able to fulfil my commitment, and report on the happenings during October.
Golf Club AGM
The Golf Club AGM took place on Monday 30th October where it was my great pleasure and honour to present Captain Mark Langford his Captain’s jacket and tie. Captain Mark has been the most amazing support to me during my Captain’s year as Vice, and I know Captain Mark will serve the Club and its Members with enthusiasm, humour, presence & commitment. The Golf Club is in very safe hands, and I know Vice Captain Derek Lines will enjoy a fantastic year supporting our Captain Mark.
I hope you can attend the ‘Captain’s Drive in’ this Sunday at midday, and witness the ceremonial start of their year.
Ladies AGM
This took place on Thursday 26th October when Margaret Judge became ladies Captain, and Margaret will be supported by her Vice Captain Sharren Kjenstad. On a personal level, I would like to thank Immediate Past Captain Bella for all her support, humour, dedication and enthusiasm during our time together as Captains…..its been an absolute pleasure.
Seniors AGM
The Seniors AGM took place in October when Colin Mann became the Seniors Captain with Kelvin Richardson accepting the Vice Captains role. Once again, on a personal level, I would like to thank Dave Harris for all his support during his Captain’s year, and I wish Colin & Kelvin good luck over the next 12 months.
Honorary Lifetime Member – John Brooks
It was my privilege and honour to present ‘Brooksie’ with ‘Honorary Life Member’ status on behalf of the Club at the AGM. Brooksie has been a wonderful servant to the Club since joining in the 1970’s. He became Club Captain in 1979, later served on the Club Board and became Club President in the 90’s. He is still an enthusiastic supporter of our Golf Club & commands deep respect from all those fortunate enough to know and meet him. Brooksies lovely wife Barbara has always provided unswerving support to John, and it was wonderful to see Barbara at the Golf Club AGM to witness Brooksie’s presentation.
A career 8 holes in one…..not a bad golfer either!
